What Makes Wuzhen Special
With over 1,300 years of history, Wuzhen is a living museum of traditional Jiangnan water town culture. East vs West Scenic Zones
Wuzhen has two sections: East Gate (Dongzha) is more rustic and authentic, with original residents still living there โ best visited in the morning. Most visitors spend the morning in East Gate, afternoon exploring West Gate, and stay for the night views.

Here's something guidebooks won't tell you: the best photo in Wuzhen isn't from a bridge โ it's from the second floor of a teahouse near the indigo workshop, looking down at the canal through wooden lattice windows. I discovered this spot three years ago when it started raining and I ducked inside. The reflection of red lanterns on wet stone is something you'll never forget. Also, stay for the evening โ that's when the day-trippers leave and the canals take on a completely different atmosphere. The West Gate at night, with its illuminated bridges and empty alleyways, feels like walking through a painting from 800 years ago.
